I’m not sure if you’re all aware that Jim has had some major back problems in the last couple weeks, but he has been recovering nicely. He stopped by Auburn Bike Works over the weekend and we injected him with some super juice. He’s been back working hard on the Tahoe-Sierra 100 course and getting logistics dialed in. Say some prayers for Jim and keep him in your thoughts in the coming weeks, he really needs it!

  1. What it takes….
There isn’t a competitor, organizer,or volunteer that has any idea of what it takes to be Jim. For every hour you see him at an event there were two days or more of preparation to make it happen, whether its getting approval from the CDF,an insurance policy in place, sponsors lined up,or arranging volunteers. For every mile of trail you have ridden in Jims races, there has been an hour of labor to make it happen: marking, clearing, repairing,
and building. All the while Jim has a family he loves and wants to spend more time with and a full time job as a general contractor, working Hard. I held my licencse for nine years,it’s not easy. You work when you don’t want to and have time off when you don’t need it,and the hours…i don’t want to even go there. So all you competitors who think racing his events means you’re tough, you “couldn’t pack jim’s water”.At the end of this years Sierra 100,make sure you shake his hand and say thanks. He put alot of work into making it happen, all the while in pain with his back(yes he will need surgery, yes he is putting it of for the races). Many of you didn’t realize he ran the Cool24 with broken ribs(ask him how it happened, its funny). Thanks for letting me speak my piece about Jim.Seems he’s good at giving other people credit but I haven’t seen anybody turn the spotlight. Thanks Jim,best wishes with the back and see you at the races. Peace.
